Jeffery Epstein was an American financier and convicted sex offender. He gained notoriety for his involvement in sex trafficking and the exploitation of underage girls, leading to his arrest and subsequent death in 2019 while imprisoned awaiting trial. Epstein associated with a number of high profile politicians and figures, including Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Prince Andrew, and Alan Dershowitz, among others. His high profile associations, along with suspicions about his suicide while in custody, have lead to enduring conspiracy theories about potential wrongdoing by people he associated with, and the circumstances of his death.

Alex Jones frequently claims that he "was among the first, 12 years ago [in 2007], to warn that Jeffrey Epstein was running a giant governmental blackmail ring using pedophilia"[1] as a way to bolster his credibility. This, however, does not appear to be true[2].

Timeline of discussions about Epstein on InfoWars

In 2006, a caller attempted to bring Epstein to InfoWars attention, but was dismissed, with Alex specifically saying he did not have knowledge of Epstein before this point[3]:

Alex: Let's go ahead and talk to [Caller].

[...]

Caller: Tonight on Coast to Coast, George Noory has Jeffrey Epstein. He's part of the America's Truth Forum.

Alex: Oh, yes. Evil Al-Qaeda's got nukes and is going to hit us any minute. Yeah, that's great stuff.

Caller: Yeah, I don't know if you recently... He has an affidavit out on the Internet from Palm Beach Police Department. He has a fetish for 14, 16-year-old girls coming into his house, giving him massages and having a fun time. So...

Alex: I don't know anything about that, sir. Why don't you send me some information? You can send it to [InfoWars]. We all read it. We all share each other's email addresses. But thank you for the call.

[Alex has hung up on the caller, and moves on to the next]

A few notes here: First, it would appear that the caller has confused two people. There is another man named Jeffery Epstein who was part of the America's Truth Forum, and has no apparent relation to the sex offender. The second is that Alex is clearly dismissive of the caller's claim. Not only does he directly deny knowledge, but he cuts to caller off to prevent them from speaking further on the topic.

Alex does not mention Epstein again on The Alex Jones Show from 2006 to 2014. This again contradicts specific claims from Alex in 2019 that he told his audience about Epstein during this period[4]. Notably this period is when Epstein was first convicted for his crimes, and given a (later) controversial sweetheart deal that effectively allowed him to avoid the normal rigors of a custodial sentence[5].

The next time Epstein is mentioned by Alex is 2015-01-02, when he says the following[6]:

Now, Paul, I want to go to this article by Kurt Nimmo, Infowars.com, and it's in the UK News.

Lawsuit claims Prince Andrew had sex with underage sex slave.

Allegedly arranged former Bear Stearns financier Jeffrey Epstein, a lawsuit filed in Florida accuses the Duke of York having sexual relations with an underage sex slave.

The allegation names multi-millionaire financier Jeffrey Espin-- Epstein, who was also convicted of soliciting sex with an underage girl.

One such powerful individual, Epstein, forced the woman to have sexual relations with a member of the British Royal Family. Prince Andrew, Duke of York, the document claims.

Who knows if this is true, but my gosh, Paul, we're gonna go to break in a few minutes, but just the firestorm of pedophile news and Savile having high-level access to all these Royals above even the Secret Service.

[...]

While you're talking, we're putting up mainstream news articles with everything he's saying. These are not our claims. These are out of UK newspaper headlines. The UK is now the pedophile palace.

It's clear that, again, Alex does not know who Epstein is, and is learning about him from mainstream reporting about a series of civil cases filed against him[7]. He stumbles over the name several, pronouncing it several different ways, and appears most interested in the idea that the Royal Family is implicated. He's also extremely careful to distance himself from the claims.

Alex repeats these claims in similar contexts on a few other days in 2015, usually as a means to impeach the character Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, or Donald Trump[8][9][10][11]. He typically references preexisting media coverage of the civil suits against Epstein. During the entire year, Epstein's name is mentioned no more than 12 times on The Alex Jones Show across these 5 dates[12].

In 2016-2018, Alex begins to talk regularly about Epstein (mentioning his name around 150 times a year). This tracks with mainstream coverage of Epstein's crimes and the reopening of criminal investigations against him[13].

Then, in 2019 coverage on InfoWars explodes, with more than 2184 mentions. This is also the year when Epstein is most covered in the media. It's the year when he was arrested and a raft of additional civil cases against him were filed, and also the year in which Epstein committed suicide, leading to widespread speculation of a cover up.

During this period, Alex begins to make claims that he is "the guy that first talked about Epstein more than a decade ago"[14]. He begins to run several ads claiming he exposed Epstein. During this time period, others like Joe Rogan claim that Alex spoke about Epstein "a decade ago"[15] without providing corroborating evidence.

The summary here is that there is no evidence to support Alex's claims to be more aware of Epstein that the general public. Before 2015, Alex does not appear to have any specific knowledge of Epstein, nor did he talk about him on his show. It was only after civil suits against Epstein were filed and reported on by credible news organizations in 2015 that Alex began to talk about Epstein. It wasn't until 2019, when Epstein burst into the general consciousness that Alex began claiming that he had special or advanced knowledge of Epstein's wrongdoing. Alex was behind the curve on Epstein, not ahead of it.
